Anti-dengue campaign intensified by DNCC

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam intensified his pre scheduled anti-dengue and chikungunya diseases campaign to create awareness among the city dwellers about the mosquito-borne diseases.
As part of his campaign, Atiqul Islam on Tuesday visited Ward No. 35 of the DNCC and distributed leaflets among the people to make them aware. According to a survey conducted by the Disease Control Division of DGHS, highest counts of 40 BI (Breteau index) were found in ward No. 35 of the
DNCC. Starting of the campaign, the DNCC mayor stressed the importance of local authorities, citizens, government and non-government organizations, and public leaders to galvanize awareness of mosquito-borne diseases.
He also said citizens bear 90 percent responsibility to prevent mosquitoes from spreading.
If people help the DNCC, the dengue and chikungunya diseases can be neutralized very easily, Atiqul said.
Eminent writer and researcher Syed Abul Moksud, DNCC Chief Health Official Brigadier General Mominur Rahman Mamun and Ward Councilor Moktar Sarder, among others, were present.
