Anti-Corruption Day today

International Anti-Corruption Day 2015 will be observed in the country as elsewhere across the world on Wednesday, aiming to raise voice against the growing culture of corruption.
To mark the day with a slogan ‘Take a vow with patriotism and say goodbye to corruption’, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and other bodies will arrange various programmes.
The ACC will bring out a procession, led by its chairman M Badiuzzman, in the
city at 9:30 am on the day and hold a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club. ACC commissioners M Shahabuddin and Dr M Nasir Uddin Ahmed and other officials will take part in the programmes.
At 6 pm on the day, the national anti-graft body will arrange a discussion at its conference room at 11 am. The ACC will also hold a mobile film show at Shishu Park in the capital. Besides, the ACC will organise rallies, human chain programme, cultural function, anti-corruption mobile film show at zila, upazila and division levels.
The TIB has already taken massive programmes, including discussion, human chain, cartoon exhibition, art exhibitions, youths’ rallies, street dramas, cultural programmes, oath-taking and film festivals in the city marking the day.
TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman and members of civil society will take part in the human chain programme to be arranged in front of Dhaka University’s Teachers and Students Centre (TSC). In a message on the occasion, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called for united efforts to deliver a clear message around the world that firmly rejects corruption and embraces instead the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance.
 This will benefit communities and countries, help usher in a better future for all.
