Ansar jailed for gold smuggling

The court sent an Ansar member to jail in connection with a gold smuggling case on Wednesday. The court rejected the appeal of the bail of the accused and directed sending him to jail after he surrendered before the court. The Ansar member is identified as Mohammad Shaheen. The Ansar member Mohammed Shaheen surrendered before the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Session Judge Shahe Noor in connection with a gold smuggling case.
The accused also appealed before the court for his bail. But, the court rejected the bail petition and directed sending him to jail.
As a result, the law enforcing agency sent him Chittagong central Jail. Sources said, the Custom Department of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport recovered 25 gold bars from a language of a passenger on July 1 in 2013. But, the then Ansar member Mohammed Shaheen working at the airport helped the passenger to escape from the airport.
Later, the Anti Corruption Commission investigated the occurrence and found Ansar Member Mohammed Shaheen guilty.
The Anti Corruption Commission filed a case in this connection with Patenga thana on December 31 in 2014.
The case was filed against seven persons including, Assistant Revenue officer of Chittagong Custom House Anisur Rahman, staff of Civil Aviation Momen Muksud, Ansar members Ilias, Mahafuja, Shaheen, Traffic helper of Bangladesh Biman Nur Uddin and owner of the language Ala Uddin.
