A member of the Ansar was choked to death in Daulatpur Upazila’s Farakpur village on Saturday morning.
Khalil Mondal, 54, a native of the village, was scheduled to carry out election duty as an assistant platoon commander.
He had an altercation with his neighbour Jadu Mia around 10am for not including the latter in election duty, police said. The argument turned into a scuffle and Jadu pulled the Ansar member’s muffler, leaving him suffocated, said Shahadat Hossain, a sub-inspector at Daulatpur Police Station.
Khalil was taken to Daulatpur Health Complex where duty doctors pronounced him dead.
