Bangladesh Ansar & VDP clinched gold medal in the Women’s Handball Competition of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games defeating Bangladesh Police by 42-20 goals in the final at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Thursday.
Bangladesh Ansar led the first half by 22-7 points. Bangladesh Police bagged silver medal in this event.
Khadiza Akter of Ansar scored eight goals.
Rubina Begum of Police netted 10 goals.
Naogaon District Sports Association earned bronze medal in this event beating Jamalpur District Sports Association by 26-16 goals in a place-deciding match at the same venue on the same day.
After the final match, Vice-President of Bangladesh Olympic Association Sheikh Bashir Ahmed distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation Asaduzzaman Kohinoor was present at the time, among others.
