Two Ansar AL Islam IT chief Baki Billah alias Abu Samir Ariful Islam alias Zahed and another member of the banned militant organisation were yesterday placed on remand for four days each.
Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the remand order on Tuesday.
Earlier, they were arrested from in front of Surma Tower in Paltan area of the city on Monday.
Counter Terrorism Unit Police Inspector Mohammad Saiful Islam produced the two accused in the court and sought seven days’ remand for each accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act, while the court granted four days remand for each accused.
The remand petition says, the accused admitted that they are active members of the banned organization. Ariful Islam joined the organisation in 2014 and at present he is in-charge of Uttara area of the city.
Other two members of the organization present during the raid fled the spot. They have been conducting different publicity works of the organisation to strengthen it.
