The DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) arrested a female militant member of Ansar al-Islam, the country’s first banned militant group. She has been identified as Jobaida Siddique Nabila (19), a high school examinee, and arrested on August 28 from Badda area of the capital. CTTC is currently interrogating her on remand A mobile phone with a SIM card and a memory card were also seized from the spot.
Additional Police Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman, Chief of the CTTC confirmed the matter to the media in a press briefing held at the DMP Media Centre saying that she was the first female.

The CTTC also claimed that while other female members of militant organisations had previously been arrested by law enforcers, but none was trained unlike Nabila.
She worked in the media wing of Ansar al-Islam and was responsible for popularising militancy. However, she was also ‘connected’ with the military division of the militant outfit, law enforcers said.
