Another woman was allegedly stripped naked and assaulted by a group of five men in front of her children in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali district after the culprits have failed to gangrape her.
The accused even shot a video when they were stripping the woman. A video clip of the incident went viral on the social media platforms.
The video footage shows that a group of people assaulting and dragging an undressed woman, pushed her into a room and then locked it. Another man was seen vandalising furniture of the house.
The victim filed a case with Noakhali Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 on January 5.
According to the case statement, a group of local people, known as Zia alias Zihad, Faruque, Enayet and Bhutto Majhi entered the house of the woman at Adarsha village in Chanondi union on January 1 in absence of her husband.
Failing to violate the woman, the criminals then stripped her naked, assaulted her and recorded the act on a mobile phone.
The criminals fled the scene as neighbours rushed in hearing the screams of the woman and her children.
On information, the woman’s husband rescued her at night and admitted her to Noakhali General Hospital.
Receiving treatment for two days at the hospital, the women went to local police station. But, police did not take the case, the victim alleged.
Later, she filed the case with a tribunal on January 5.
Taking the case into cognisance, the court asked the additional police superintendent (Hatiya Circle) to submit a report within seven working days after investigation.
ASP Golam Faruque told media that he visited the spot on Saturday after receiving the court order.
A police hunt is on to arrest the accused, he added.
On September 2 last year, miscreants assaulted a woman after stripping her off in her house at Ekhlaspur under Begumganj upazila of the district.
They also filmed the act in a mobile phone and circulated on the social media that sparked national outcry.
