An NGO employee who suffered burn injuries in a fire incident in a Fatullah NGO died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) here on Monday, raising the death toll from the incident to five.
Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital said Mizanur Rahman, 40, a field officer of Society for Social Service and son of Tajul Islam, succumbed to his injuries at the burn unit of the hospital around 2:40 pm.
Five people suffered severe burn injuries as a blast took place at the NGO office on the ground floor of a four-storey building at Panchabati under
Fatullah police station in Narayanganj district on March 15.
Soon after the explosion, a fire spread across the flat through the gas pipeline.
The injured were first taken to a local hospital from where they were shifted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Earlier, four other victims-Sohel, 20, Ferdous, 30, Aslam, 26 and Nasir, 30 — succumbed to their injuries at the same hospital.
