A teenage girl who sustained burn injuries following an explosion in a house at Fatullah in Sadar upazila on Monday died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday, raising the death toll from the incident to three.
The victim was identified as Popy Akter, 16, a 1st year student of Narayanganj Women’s College, daughter of Selina Akhter.
Earlier, Popy’s mother Selina Akhter, 36, and her school-going brother Anik, 14, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital four days after the incident on Friday.
Popy had been fighting for her life at the hospital
since the incident and succumbed to her injuries at the Burn Unit of the hospital on Sunday morning.
Six people, including the three members of the family, were injured in the explosion on Monday at Lalkhan.
Besides, four shops were damaged and a wall of Selina’s house collapsed following the explosion.
