Cause unknown yet: Another nat’l power grid fails

National power grid failed again after five months of countrywide blackout last November. The incident is giving warning that of a greater disaster may be ahead, since the cause of previous failure remained still unknown, sources said.
A large areas in the middle zone of the country faced power outage for two hours yesterday. The problem developed from a power station at Haripur in Narayanganj around 7.15pm. It became normal after 2.15 hours. Soon after restoration of power supply, another part of the grid failed.
Officials of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) said that the power grid has failed for unknown technical fault. Experts were working to find out the cause and its remedy. But there is no progress.
The November blackout was the result of the technical glitch that took place at Baharampur point from where India supplies electricity to Bangladesh grid through Bheramara point,” to Managing Director of PGCB Masum Al Beruni, said.
