Staff Reporter :Police in a drive arrested another member of militant group Ansarullah Bangla Team in connection with the Ashulia bank robbery from Daulatpur upazila in Manikganj district early Tuesday.The arrested man was identified as Jasim Uddin alias Asad, 22, son of Saiful Islam of Chapainawabganj district.Two militants were earlier arrested from Tongi of Gazipur for their link in the dacoity. Police has so far detained seven people, sources said.Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dhaka Range) Khandaker Golam Farukh claimed thatthe members of Ansarullah Bangla Team are involved in Ashulia bank robbery.He made the claim at a press conference in Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media Centre in Minto Road on Tuesday afternoon.He said that the Tuesday’s arrested militant was responsible for the stabbing the bank manager to death during the robbery.Golam Farukh said, the militant organization wanted to rob the bank to collect money to support their activities.Investigation Officer of the case Dipak Chandra Saha, also Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Ashulia said that Jasim, in primary interrogation, admitted that he killed the bank manager and a client during the robbery incident.Earlier on April 21, seven people, including the bank manager of Kathgora branch of Bangladesh Commerce Bank (BCB) in Ashulia Industrial Area in Dhaka district were killed. Later, angry mob lynched one of the robbers while they were escaping with about Tk 35 lakh in broad daylight.
