UNB, Rangpur :
Police recovered the body of a local journalist from Tamfata area of the city on Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Utshow Rahman, 30, a staff reporter of local newspaper ‘Juger Alo’ and son of Samsul Huda Mondal of Pirpur in the city. News editor of the daily Juger Alo Abu Taleb said Utshow went missing around 9:30pm on Wednesday after he went out of the office to attend an invitation at the house of his maternal aunt at Mahiganj in the city.
Locals spotted the body by Rangpur-Bogra highway at Tamfata around 6:30 am yesterday and informed police, said officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Abdul Kader Jilani.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the body that bored several stab marks and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue. The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately, the OC said.
Meanwhile, police detained Utshow’s friend Moksedul Islam for interrogation. A case was filed in this connection.
