Another journalist in the capital reportedly died with coronavirus symptoms on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Mahmudul Hakim Apu, a journalist in the daily Shomoyer Alo.
Apu was found dead on his bed on early Wednesday, according to his wife.
Journalist Apu was suffering from cold fever and cough. He was staying at home. On early Wednesday, Apu’s wife found him dead while she went to wake him up for taking Sehri, said Habibur Rahman, Organizing Secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity and also a Senior Reporter of the Daily Shomoyer Alo.
Earlier on April 28, Humayun Kabir Khokan, City Editor and Chief Reporter of the newspaper died of Covid-19 infection at the ICU of Regent Hospital in Uttara in the capital.
Habibur Rahman also said that after the death of Khokan, at least five journalists of the news paper houses were tested positive for the Covid-19. Besides, many were staying at home with symptoms of coronavirus.
