Another Gazipur clash victim dies at DMCH

Another victim of April 10 clash over a land dispute at Dhanpur village in Kaliganj upazila died on Saturday, taking the death toll to four from the incident. Solema Begum, 50, succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital in the early hours.
Earlier, a man and his two sons were killed and four people, including Solema, injured in the clash. They were Mamtaz Uddin, 75, and his sons Saiful Islam, 35, and Saijul Islam, 30.
Solema was the sister of the wife of Nurul Islam, son of Mamtaz.
Police and locals said there had been a longstanding dispute between
 Mamtaz, and Alauddin and Sharif of nearby Rathura village over the ownership of a piece of land.
When Mamtaz along with his men went to the disputed land for cultivation on April 10, their rivals, equipped with lethal weapons, attacked them, triggering a clash.
A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left Mamtaz and Saijul dead on the spot and five people injured. Saiful died on the way to the DMCH.
Solema was admitted to the DMCH where she succumbed to her injuries after fighting for life for 16 days.
