Another teenage victim of the plastic factory fire in Keraniganj succumbed to injuries on Saturday. With this, the death toll reaches 14.
The victim was identified as Asad, 14, who breathed his last at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 7:00am.
Dr Partha Sankar, Resident surgeon of Plastic Surgery Unit confirmed the news to the media.
Dr. Samonto Lal, Coordinator of DMCH burn unit said that around 17 burn patients are still in burn unit. They are not out of danger.
On Thursday, 12 workers, who were critically burnt in Wednesday’s factory fire, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Earlier, 12 victims’ bodies among 14 were handed over to their families.The deceased were identified as Imran, Babul, Alam Hossain, Raihan, Zinarul Islam, Khalek, Salauddin, Sujon, Faysal, Jahangir and Mehedy and Abdur Razzak.
The inferno sparked by a gas cylinder explosion at a factory in Hijaltola killed 14 workers so far and injured 35 others. Firefighters recovered the charred body of Jakir Hossain, 25, from the spot.
