bdnews24.com :Unknown miscreants have abducted a businessman in Noakhali’s Begumganj Upazila, his family says.Abul Bashar, 42, of the Upazila’s Alaiyapur village, was abducted around 10am on Friday.The family notified police in the afternoon, but declined to share details on whether the abductors had contacted them.Alaiyapur Union Parishad Chairman Alauddin Khan, however, told reporters that the abductors demanded Tk 500,000 as ransom from Bashar’s family.Noakhali’s Begumganj circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Ehsanul Kabir said they were trying to rescue the businessman.Bashar was standing at the door of his house in the morning when two men on a motorcycle came and whisked him away at gunpoint, his brother Abul Hossain said quoting members of the residence who witnessed the scene.Bashar’s phone was switched off since then, Hossain said.He added that Bashar ran a business of transporting soil to construction sites.Unknown group of abductors had abducted seven men including a city corporation councillor and a senior lawyer from Narayanganj on Apr 27.Their bodies were found several days later floating in the Shitalakhya River.A businessman was also abducted from the same district’s Sanarparh area on Friday.
