UNB, Narayanganj :
A 10-year-old boy was killed allegedly by pumping air into his body through his anus at a textile factory in Rupganj upazila here on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Sagor Barman, 10, son of Ratan Barman of Rajibur village of Khaliajuri upazila of Netrakona district. Sagor along with his father used to work at Jubeda Textile Mills in Jatramura area.
Sub-Inspector Bachchu Miah, also in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, said some workers informed Ratan around 1pm that his son fell sick in the factory when he was away.
Later, Ratan found his son lying beside a compressor machine in the factory at around 1:30pm with his stomach swelling. Sagor was first taken to a local hospital and then shifted to the DMCH as his condition deteriorated.
Sagor succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around 3:30pm, the police officer said.
Talking to reporters, Sagor’s father alleged that someone killed his son by pumping air into his belly through his anus.
However, the owner and the employees of the factory went into hiding after the incident, sources at Rupganj Police Station said.
Doctors are yet to confirm the actual cause of his death.
On August 4 last year, Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death in the same way by his employers over quitting job.
On November 8, a Khulna court convicted two people and sentenced them to death for killing the 12-year-old boy.
