Another body of Pinak-6 victim found in Jhalakati

The decomposed body of a victim of the ‘Pinak-6’ launch capsize was recovered from the Sugandha River at Dakkhin Mogar village in Nalchhiti upazila on Friday, 18 days after the incident.
The deceased was identified as Mintu Mollah, son of Abdus Salam of Krishnadia
village in Moksedpur upazila of Gopalganj district. His identity was discovered through calling his family by a mobile SIM found along with him during the body recovery, police said.
Later, police handed over the body of Mintu to his uncle Babul Mollah. Mintu Mollah had been enlisted in the government’s list of the missing in the ‘Pinak-6’ capsize.
With this, 49 bodies have so far been recovered from different rivers stretching several districts after the launch capsized on August 4.
The overloaded launch Pinak-6 with over 250 passengers on board from Kawrakandi capsized in the Padma River, 800 yards off Mawaghat (jetty) due to strong currents while it was heading towards the jetty.
 According to the list of the district administration, 61 passengers of the ill-fated launch are still missing. The operation to salvage the sunken launch was abandoned on August 11citing rough weather.
