BSMRSTU protest: Another Asst Proctor resigns

The third Assistant Proctor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) resigned on Thursday showing solidarity with student’s movement.
Assistant Proctor Dr Md Tariqul Islam, a teacher of Pharmacy Department, submitted his resignation letter to the proctor.
The students have been staging demonstration for more than a week demanding the resignation of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Khandoker Md Nasiruddin for his alleged involvement in corruption and irregularities. Earlier, Assistant Proctor Dr Md Nazmul Haque submitted his resignation letter to the proctor on Wednesday citing personal reason.
Before it, on September 21, Assistant Proctor Md Humayun Kabir, a teacher of Sociology Department, resigned protesting the attacks on students by the supporters of the Vice-chancellor outside the campus which left at least 30 injured.
Yet, students of the university continued their hunger strike for the eighth consecutive day on Thursday.
The sit-in hunger strike began on September 19, with students demanding the resignation of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Khandoker Md Nasiruddin.
