Sylhet Correspondent :
Another accused in a case filed in connection with the brutal killing of Rajon gave confessional statement in Sylhet district court on Tuesday.
Metropolitan Magistrate-1 Shahedul Karim recorded accused Ayaj Ali’s statement Under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) on the day.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) confirmed the news. Ayaj was picked up from the city’s Kumargaon on Saturday noon.
Rajon, the ill-fated teenager, was tortured to death by a gang of notorious persons at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city around 7:30am on July 8.
The accused also recorded the video of the torture of the boy.
The 28-minute video recorded on a mobile phone camera shows the victim tied to a pole in front of a workshop in the still-closed Sultan Ali Market beside the Dhaka-Sunamganj Road.
From the video, it seemed there were five to six persons, who took part in the barbaric torture.
One Muhit was caught red-handed while dumping Rajon’s body on the day of the murder.
A murder case was filed in this connection by Jalalabad police in which Rajon’s father later became a plaintiff.
Muhit was listed as the prime accused in the case, while his brother Kamrul Islam, 24, their accomplice Ali Haidar, 34, and guard Moyna Miah, 45, were charged with murder as well.
Thirteen people have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder. Of them, eight have given their confessional statements separately.
