The OC said that, he was arrested from a relative’s house and brought back to Dhaka.
Police have arrested 20 people so far over the murder that has sparked outrage and calls for banning student politics on campus.
On Oct 7, Abrar, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the university, was beaten to death.
A group of BCL BUET unit leaders and activists bludgeoned Abrar to death allegedly for his social media post criticizing the recent Bangladesh-India deal on sharing the water of Feni River.
Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case against 19 people with the capital’s Chawkbazar Police Station on October 7.
The killing of Abrar sparked protest across the country with protesters demanding justice for and capital punishment for the murderers. The BUET authorities also banned the activities of all politics of student bodies on the campus amid students protest.
