A student of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, accused of rape and murder was arrested from Mohammadpur area on Thursday night, five days after the incident of death.
Her name is Neha, 25.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tejgaon division Harun-or-Rashid confirmed the matter and said that Neha was arrested as she had remained fugitive for five days.
He also said that Rayhan and the victim had relation. So they were contacted each
other. In this context, five friends including the victim arranged a get together and drank liquor.
The victim father alleged that his daughter died in a private hospital after rape by the friend with drunk and filed a case against five. All the accused have been picked up after arrest of Neha, he added.
This official says that now it is under investigation and we are going to conclude after getting the autopsy report.
Meanwhile, the investigating officer of the case produced Neha in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Friday afternoon with remand prayer for seven days for proper investigation. The court granted five-day remand.
Police officials said that investigations found that the five member group including the victim had taken part in a party in Bamboo Shoot Restaurant in Uttara on January 28.
There they danced as well as drank wine. Late at night, everyone from Uttara went to another hotel in Gulshan. There they drank wine again and took lead. Then the two went to a friend’s house and the rest left for Mawa, they said.
Police sources said that Neha used to hold such parties in different parts of the capital. Although she was a student of a private university, now was not on study. She is trying to go abroad.
The police investigation into the alleged rape and killing of ULAB suspected that liquor consumption by the victim and her friends might have been a major cause of the deaths.
But, the ULAB student’s father says that she was forced to excessive liquor consumption and then raped at a flat in Mohmmadpur.
He alleged that his daughter had been taken to a restaurant at Uttara by Murtoja and Arafat on Thursday and she had fallen sick as they had forced her to excessive alcohol consumption.
Later, she was taken to a flat in Mohammadpur where Rayhan raped her and she later died in a city’s hospital on January 31, the father alleged.
Later, he filed a case against Murtuza Rayhan Chowdhury, 21, Nuhat Alam Tafsir, 21, Arafat, 28, Neha, 25 and another one is unknown. Among them Rayhan and Tafsir have been arrested.
Arafat, another friend of the ULAB student, also died after alcohol consumption on January 30, said police.
