The second consignment of 2 million doses of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine from the Serum Institute of India will arrive in the country today (Monday). Beximco Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Nazmul Hasan Papon MP confirmed this on Sunday, however, he did not mention when the vaccine would reach the country on Monday.
He said public holidays are going on in both the countries due to Ekushey February and Sunday. So, we can confirm on Monday morning when the vaccine is coming. However, it is certain that the second shipment of vaccines will arrive on Monday.
Earlier, after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital on Monday (February 15), he said the second consignment of vaccines would arrive in the country on February 22 (today).
At that time, he said, “3 million vaccines are being considered so far. The number of vaccines may vary depending on our needs. As there is still a stock of more than 6 million vaccines, there will be no crisis in the future.”
On January 20, the Government of India sent 2 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India as a gift to Bangladesh. Later, the first consignment of 5 million vaccines came to the country on January 25.
Meanwhile, nationwide vaccination started on February 8. More than 2 million people across the country have been vaccinated so far, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
