To promote Bangladeshi theatre outside the country, Annyo Theatre staged play Joyee in Toronto, Canada recently.
The play was staged three times at a time at Legion Hall Auditorium in Canada.
Main story of the play revolves with various aspects of three characters – Joya, Joy and Jibon. Canada expatriate play director and recitation artiste Ahmed Hossain gave direction of the play which story was written by Shamim Ahsan. Manik Chondo, Nishith Proshanti Nirjhum, Habibullah Tori and Zahirul Islam acted in different roles in the play.
Main attraction of the play was Nishith Proshanti Nirjhum. Brought up in abroad Nirjhum acted in Akhter Hossain directed play Alta Banu in 2005. Later she was engaged with Canadian mainstream theatre there.
While talking about the play director Ahmed Hossain told this correspondent over mobile phone, “Annyo Theatre has been developed to promote Bangladeshi culture outside the country. Till now it produced and staged seven plays. Joyee was its eighth production. We have a dream to stage Joyee for hundred times.”
