Annual prize giving ceremony-2014 of MHSC held

The Annual prize giving ceremony-2014 of Monipur High School and College (MHSC) was held at the main girls’ campus of the school at Mirpur in the city on Wednesday (16-04-2014). Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP was present the ceremony as chief guest. Kamal Ahmed Majumder, MP and President, Governing Body of MHSC presided over the ceremony.
Md Farhad Hossain, Principal, MHSC gave welcome address. The ceremony started after singing the national anthem and recitation from the holy Quran. Delwar Hossain spoke in the programme on behalf of the governing body members. The Principal in his welcome speech said, today is a memorable day of the school and all of us. MHSC was established in 1969. It has now five branches and over 30000 students and 500 teachers. This school has all modern facilities including multimedia classroom, pure drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply, modern laboratories, healthcare facilities and what not.
Education Minister during his speech said, I am very delighted for invited me here and thanked the authorities of the institution. MHSC is one of the best schools of the country. It secured first position in Primary School Certificate (PSC) in the last three consecutive years. I thanked teachers, students and guardians for this brilliant success. Your brilliant result gave you more responsibility. So you have to work hard to go ahead with more success.
It is our bad luck that we cannot fulfill the target dreamt by the freedom fighters. The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working hard for building a prosperous country. The government set a target to build Digital Bangladesh by 2021.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also set a vision of building develop Bangladesh by 2042. It needs hard work to fulfill this target. It is not possible for the govt alone. It needs united efforts of the countrymen, he added.
The Minister further said, our govt has achieved in various sectors such as education, agriculture, power and ICT sectors. We want to build a Sonar Bangla. Education is essential in this regard. Students are the front ranking fighters. So they should be properly educated. We changed our education curriculum and made it time-befitting. This curriculum will help be best suited for the students to prepared them as worthy citizens of the country, he hoped.
Kamal Majumder urged the Education to look after the problems of the school including MPO of teachers. He also urged the minister to stop coaching business. He requested the teachers of MHSC not to be involved themselves in coaching business. He cautioned that if anyone found he/she will be dismissed from the job.
 Governing body members, local elites, teachers, students, guardians, and journalists of both print and electronic media were present in the programme.
