Annual exhibition of Printmaking Department, DU begins

Printmaking Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Dhaka has organised its annual art exhibition at Zainul Gallery on the campus.
Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest, while eminent printmaker Mahmudul Haque, engineer Moinul Abedin, son of Zainul Abedin; noted printmaker Ahmed Nazir Khokan, also son of prominent printmaker Safiuddin Ahmed were also present as special guests on the occasion.
Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of DU presided over the inaugural session while Md Anisuzzaman, Chairman of Printmaking Department, Asmita Alam Shammi, convener of Annual Art Exhibition of Printmaking Department, students of the department, among others, were also present at the event.
About 50 printmakers have taken part with their hundred artworks in different mediums at the exhibition.
Artist Md Anisuzzaman, chairman of the department, has given a print of veteran painter Samarjit Roy Chowdhury to Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University in the programme.
An award giving ceremony was also held at the venue. The awardees were Shakil Mridha (BFA 1st Year), Gultekin Sadia (BFA 2nd Year), Atique Foysal Tonmoy (BFA 3rd Year), Md Ashraful Alam (BFA 4th Year), Md Shahed Hossain (BFA 4th Year) has received Artist Syed Abul Barq Alvi Award; Tafannum Kagoji (BFA 2nd Year) has received Artist Habibur Rahman Memorial Award; Chittron Saha (MFA 2nd Part) has won the Experimental Award; Sanchita Biswas has received Artist Mahmudul Haque Award; Md Rafiqul Islam (MFA 2nd Part) has won Artist Mohammod Kibria Memorial Award; Sakib Salim (MFA 2nd Part) has won Shilpaguru Safiuddin Ahmed Award-2016; Dipankar Singha (BFA 4th Year) has received Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Award-2016.
The exhibition will continue till February 28.
