The newly elected mayors and councillors of three city corporations in Dhaka and Chittagong were sworn in on Wednesday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the oath of office of the three newly elected mayors – Annisul Huq of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Sayeed Khokon of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and AJM Nasir Chittagong City Corporation (CCC). LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam administered the oath to newly elected coucillors of the three cities. Acting LGRD secretary Abdul Malek conducted the function. On April 30, the Election Commission officially declared Annisul Huq, Sayeed Khokon and AJM Nasir elected mayors of DNCC, DSCC and CCC respectively through publishing gazettes. Besides, 131 general councillors and 45 female councilors from reserved seats of the three city corporations were declared officially elected. The elections to the three city corporations in capital Dhaka and the port city of Chittagong were held on April 28. The oath-taking ceremony began with recitation from four holy books– Al Quran, Gita, Bible and Tripitaka.
