Annisul Huq and Sayeed Khokon, the newly elected mayors of Dhaka North and Dhaka South city corporations, have gone to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The two mayors elect, whose candidature had been endorsed by the ruling party, went to the Ganabhaban on Wednesday evening to meet the Awami League chief.
The newly elected councillors of both city corporations accompanied Huq and Khokon.
The prime minister briefed the press with the duo either side.
Hasina said Tuesday’s election was ‘free and fair’.
The BNP, however, had pulled out of the fray midway, citing gross rigging by the ruling party.
