Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
One of the popular and noted playback singers Andrew Kishore has already impressed many listeners to perform in different stage shows held in different districts across the country.
But in his longtime career he couldn’t get the opportunity to perform in any show in Mymensingh. For the first time this noted singer is going to perform in Mymensingh.
He will perform on second day of two-day long programme, which is organised by Bangladesh Medical Association – Mymensingh Unit. He will perform at Mymensingh Medical College Auditorium at 7:00pm on March 11.
It was confirmed by Head of Neurosurgeon Department of Mymensingh Medical College Dr Soumitra Sarkar yesterday.
He has been working as a coordinator of the event.
While talking about his first performance to Mymensingh Andrew Kishore told this correspondent, “It is an opportunity to perform in such a programme because this type of arrngaement becomes very much organised. Therefore, I never get the opportunity to travel Mymensingh town. Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Museum, Monda of Muktagachha, Balish Misti (one type of sweet) of Goyanath, Netrokona, etc are famous items. So, I have planned to travel Mymensingh town besides performing in the show.”
Meanwhile, Andrew Kishore has a schedule to perform in Chittagong on March 5 and in Dinajpur on March 28, he said.
It may be mentioned that after independence in 1971 Andrew Kishore first performed in a stage show held at a fresher’s reception of Ullapara College. During that time he was a student. He got Tk 700 as remuneration to perform in that show. After becoming a professional playback singer Andrew Kishore first performed in Modhumita Cinema Hall. He rendered a song titled Ek chor jai choley pichhoney legechhe daroga along with film actress Rozina. The song was sang by Andrew Kishore which was on lip of Alamgir in late Shibli Sadik’s directed a film titled Protigga.
But this playback maestro yet not had seen in any TV programme to perform. While asking him this question Andrew Kishore replied, “I never feel comfortable to perform in TV live show. For this reason, nobody see me in any TV live show.”
Besides stage shows, Andrew Kishore is also giving time in playback songs now.
Under Alauddin Ali’s direction he rendered a playback song for a film last month, he said.
