Anamul Haque, Rony Talukdar and Saif Hasan hit century each for their respective sides in the 1st innings of the Tier 1 matches on day two in the Walton 19th National Cricket League (NCL) on Saturday.
Anamul scored 105* for holders Khulna Division the side trailed by 286 runs after the 2nd day’s play, replying to Rangpur Division 471/10 in 120.3 overs at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Opening the 1st innings on day two, Khulna collected 185 for no loss in 57 overs, at stumps, as their opening pair between Anamul and Robiul Islam Robi was unbeaten when the bails were drawn for the day.
Anamul faced 175 balls to fire 11 boundaries while Robiul Islam Robi was at the crease with a half century of 67 off 172balls, including three boundaries and one six.
Rangpur resumed the 1st innings with overnight score of 325/6 in 87.3 overs.
Overnight centurion and skipper Naeem Islam finished his innings after scoring 135 runs while another notable scorer Shorawordi Shuvo fell short of 11 runs for a century as he was caught by Afif Hossain off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza after scoring 89 off 121 balls, including 16 boundaries on the day. Another overnight batsman Ariful Haque was out for 30 runs.
Alamin Hossain captured four wickets for 102 runs while skipper Abdur Razzak bagged three for 126 for Khulna in the first innings.
After being washed out of the 1st day’s play at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground in Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka Division opened the 1st innings against Barisal Division on the day and scored 309/2 in 90 overs, at stumps, where centurions Rony and Saif Hasan shared a partnership of 141 in 36.5 overs in the 2nd stand.
Rony scored 121 off 195 balls, including eight boundaries and six over boundaries, while Saif was at the crease with unbeaten 106 off 193 balls, including nine boundaries and five over boundaries.
Rakibul Hasan was on batting with 45 off 75 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes, when the bails were drawn for the day.
Monir Hossain and Tanvir Islam took one wicket each for 73 and 75 runs respectively for Barisal Division.
