Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu will leave here for Kenya on July 17 to attend three-day conference of the World Investment Forum (WIF) in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
An official release of the ministry said on Friday that the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) organized its 14th session at Kenya International Convention Centre scheduled to be held from July 18 to 21.
Ministers of member-countries, investors, high officials of respective governments, executives of private institutions, representatives of development partners, prominent players from the business world, civil society and academia would take part in the conference, which will also decide on UNCTAD’s programme of work.
The discussion will take place on the implementation of ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’.
The WIF is the largest global platform for action on investment for sustainable development bringing together global leaders from the public and private sectors to explore what the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals mean for business and how the public and private sectors can make progress on their implementation.
The industries minister, in his speech, would highlight the possibility of investment in Bangladesh and various opportunities of the investors facilitated by the Bangladesh government in this connection.
On the sidelines of the conference, Amu would hold two-high-level meetings with ‘Development of South-South Principles on International Investment for Sustainable Development’ and ‘Investment and Enterprise Development’ there. International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) will organize the side-lined meetings, the release added.
The Industries Minister is expected to return home on July 22.
