UNB, Dhaka :
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Saturday said the killing of foreign nationals is ‘the second edition of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s politics of murder’.
The minister was addressing a programme at Nalchity Upazila Parishad auditorium in Jhalokathi, said a ministry handout.
The Social Service Department and the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) jointly arranged the programme to disburse interest-free loans.
Amu said, having failed to get support of the country’s people, Khaleda Zia had killed people through arson attacks in the name of hartal and blockade for 93 days earlier in the year. And now, according to the Awami League veteran, she was resorting to killing foreign nationals to avenge the international community’s lack of support for her movement. At the same time, Amu said BNP carried out the killings also as a ploy to engage the international community against the current government.
Presided over by Nalchity Upazila chairman Yunus Laskar, the programme was attended, among others, by Awami League district unit general secretary Khan Saifullah Panir, BRDB chairman HM Akhteruzzaman Bacchu and Jhalokathi municipal mayor Afzal Hossain.
At the programme, the Social Service Department disbursed loans of Tk 5.45 lakh among 37 people under its rural social service programme, while BRDB disbursed Tk 2.38 lakh among 16 men belonging to a cooperative.
