Amu seeks foreign investment in BD

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has urged foreign entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh taking advantage of its favorable investment climate due to availability of low-cost skilled manpower and other facilities.
“Indian investors can go for joint venture with Bangladesh entrepreneurs in setting up chemical industries in Bangladesh and in such a situation the government will provide them with same facilities the local entrepreneurs are enjoying in Bangladesh,” Amu said while speaking at the opening programme of ‘9th India Chem 2016’ held at Mumbai, India on Thuradsy.
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Chemical and Petrochemical Division of India’s Chemicals and Fertilizers Affairs Ministry jointly organized the event, said a media release of the industries ministry here.
Deep C Mehata chaired the opening programme while Chemicals and Fertilizers Affairs Minister Anantha Kumar, state minister for chemicals, fertilizers, road communication and shipping Mansukh L. Mandaviya, industries minister of Orissa of India Debi Prasad Mishra and Anuj Kumar Bishnu, among others, addressed it.
Amu said Bangladesh and India historically enjoy very friendly relations that have intensified under the leadership of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Premier Narendra Modi, he said. The implementation of Land Boundary Agreement has taken these relations to a new height.
He emphasized the importance of transfer of agricultural technologies and exchange of experience between the two countries for increasing productivity in agriculture sector and its modernization.
