Amu for exploiting economic potential of BIMSTEC countries

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Saturday stressed the need for boosting mutual cooperation, trade-commerce and investments among the BIMSTEC members to exploit the huge economic potential for sustainable development of the region.
“BIMSTEC countries need to increase their bilateral and multilateral trade for sustainable economic development of the region,” said Amu while speaking as the chief guest at the opening session of ‘BIMSTEC EXPO-2017’ in Kolkata, India, according to a report received on Saturday.
Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) organized the three-day event with its president Shashwat Goenka in the chair. Consumer Affairs minister of India’s West Bengal Sadhan Pandey, joint secretary of the external affairs ministry of India Prasanta Agarwal, Myanmar representative to BIMSTEC Lahpai Zau Goone, secretary of Jharkhand industry department Sunil Kumar Barnwal and ICC’s Senior Vice-President Rundra Chatterjey, among others, spoke on the occasion.
