Renowned Ayurvedic physician, Dr Amrita Kumar Sarkar, has been awarded PhD Degree for research on Ayurvedic medicine by Jahangirnagar University (JU), Savar.
The decision to award him the PhD was taken at a Syndicate meeting of JU recently.
His thesis title was “Scientific evaluation of the ayurvedic preparation Amritarista in increasing hemoglobin and the treatment of anaemia”. His supervisor was Prof Dr Sanjida Mubassara, Department of Botany, JU.
Dr Amrita was admitted in M. Phil programme in 2011-12 session in JU. Earlier, he completed Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree from Government Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital under the University of Dhaka.
