A book fair titled “Biswajure Bangla Boi” will be held in Washington DC on June 30.
Amra Bangali Foundation (ABF) is organizing the first ever Bangla book fair in the US capital to fulfill the dreams of hundreds Bangalee nationals living in Washington DC and different states of the US.
A preparatory meeting marking the book fair was held in Washington DC on Tuesday, said a press release here on Wednesday.
Eminent poet of Bangla literature Helal Hafiz is expected to inaugurate the fair.
Bangladesh Deputy Ambassador to the US Poet Mahbub Saleh, Chief of Bangla service of Voice of America and ABF Chief Advisor Rokeya Haider, Voice of America news presenter Sarker Kabir Uddin, eminent businessman and social worker Anis Khan and Dr Nazrul Islam, among others, addressed the meeting with ABF President Jibak Kumar Barua in the chair.
ABF Chief Convener Anowar Iqbal moderated the meeting.
After the meeting, a cultural function was held. Ashif Entaz Rabi, Anis Ahmed, Mahbub Saleh, Santosh Barua, Mostafa Tanim, Dipu Khan, Aditi Sadia Rahman, Silika Kona, Dorthi Bose, Dinar Moni and Paroma Sanyal performed in the function.
