‘Aminul Huq-Atia Huq Memorial Gold Medal’ introduced at DU

Prof Dr Dilruba Huq of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday handed over a cheque for Taka five lac to DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to introduce “Aminul Huq-Atia Huq Memorial Gold Medal” at the Dhaka University in memory of her parents. Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Sekul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Prof Syed Md Shamsuddin, Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman, donor’s relatives-Dr Jahangeer Haider, Mrs. Shirin Jahangeer, Mamun Huq, Rahima Akter and Manzur-e-Mowla were present on this occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year “Aminul Huq-Atia Huq Memorial Gold Medal” will be given to a student who will stand First Class First in B.Sc. (Hons.) final examination from the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the Dhaka University.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Arefin Siddique thanked Prof Dilruba Huq and her family members for the donation to introduce “Aminul Huq-Atia Huq Memorial Gold Medal” at the Dhaka University. It may be mentioned that Md Aminul Huq did his Honours and Masters in Philosophy from the Dhaka University in 1939 and 1941 respectively. His wife Atia Huq took her M.A. Degree in Philosophy from Calcutta University in 1945.
