The 14 posts, including the major posts, are sharply divided between the main two panels in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election for the years 2019-2020.
Ruling Awami League backed Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad, popularly known as ‘White Panel’, secured six posts out of 14 which included the posts of the President, one Vice President, one Assistant Secretary General and three Executive Members.
On the other hand, the BNP backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel, popularly known as ‘Blue Panel’ secured 8 posts including the General Secretary, one Vice-President, Treasurer, one Assistant Secretary
and four Executive Members. Incumbent Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan is re-elected as General Secretary of the organization for the seventh consecutive time.
White Panel candidate Advocate A M Amin Uddin polled 3225 votes in the President post, while his nearest contestant Advocate A J Mohammad Ali of Blue Panel got 2443 votes.
Blue Panel candidate Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan bagged 3056 votes in the General Secretary post, while his nearest contestant Advocate Abdun Nur Dulal of White Panel got 2649 votes.
Advocate Abdul Baten of Blue Panel (2856) and Advocate Md Jasim Uddin of White Panel (2849) elected Vice-Presidents and Advocate Md Imam Hossain of Blue Panel (2947) won as Treasurer.
Advocate Kazi Shamsul Hasan Shuvo of White Panel (2729) and Advocate Sharif Uddin Ahmed of Blue Panel (2722) elected Assistant General Secretaries.
Advocate Kazi Akhtar Hossain (3169), Advocate Rashida Alim Oyshi (3096), Advocate Osman Chowdhury (3036), and Advocate Shahin Ara Laily (2866) of Blue Panel and Advocate Shamim Sarder (2983), Advocate Afia Afrose Rani (2877) and Advocate Chanchal Kumar Biswas (2852) of White Panel won Executive members of the new committee.

The two-day election to the Supreme Court Bar Association ended at 5.00 pm on Thursday in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
A total 6135 lawyers out of 7825 lawyers exercised their franchise this year, SCBA Superintendent Nimesh Chandra Das said.
