E-commerce giant Amazon has paid value added tax (VAT) worth Tk 53 lakh for the first time in Bangladesh.
The company deposited Tk 53 lakh VAT to the government exchequer submitting return to the Dhaka South VAT Commissionerate on Thursday.
Following Facebook and Google, Amazon is the third tech giant which paid the VAT submitting return.

VAT Commissionerate Promila Sarkar said Amazon Web Services Incorporation deposited Tk 52,97,780 VAT to the government exchequer through Sonali Bank Limited. PricewaterhouseCoopers Bangladesh submitted the VAT return on behalf of Amazon.
PricewaterhouseCoopers Bangladesh offers business advisory services such as auditing, accounting, taxation, strategy management, and human resource consulting services.
