Mahabub Alam :
The inquiry officials submitted their primary investigation reports separately to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday and Thursday against three former and incumbent minister and MPs on charge of amassing wealth beyond their known sources of income, sources in ACC said.
ACC Deputy Directors Mirza Zahidul Alam, Sheikh Mesbah Uddin and Jatan Kumar Roy inquired about earnings of wealth by former Health Minister Dr Ruhal Huq, MP Aslamul Huq and MP Enamul Huq respectively.
The assigned officers went initially through the wealth statements of the ruling men, which were submitted to the ACC and Election Commission just before the 9th and 10th parliamentary polls.
They collected documents from different government offices and private organisations about their wealth and properties. Besides, the officers gathered information on spot visits.
After scrutiny of all the findings, they found earnings of huge wealth dishonestly.
The officers placing the reports to the directors of the Commission recommended for filing of the separate cases against the accused, sources said.
The reports will finally be submitted to the commissioners and chairman through director generals. If the highest bosses approve their recommendations, the cases may be filed. ACC Chairman M Badiuzzaman said, he is yet to go through the reports. After perusal of them, the decision would be taken, he added.
On August 21, ACC filed three separate cases against two former state ministers and a member of Parliament of the ruling party for amassing wealth illegally.
The cases were registered against former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan, former State Minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman and Cox’s Bazar-4 Constituency MP Abdur Rahman Bodi with Ramna Thana.
ACC Deputy Directors Abdus Sobhan, Nasiruddin and Khairul Huda respectively filed the cases.
