The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file separate cases against BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee and former Jatiya Party MP Abdul Jabbar for allegedly amassing illegal wealth.
The Commission at its recent meeting approved filing cases against them, ACC acting chairman M Shahabuddin told UNB over phone on Saturday.
In February 2014, the ACC launched a probe into the graft allegation against Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee. ACC deputy director Manzur Morshed conducted the inquiry.
During the ACC’s inquiry, it was found that illegal wealth worth nearly Tk 1.5 crore was amassed by Anee and his family members.
In February 2014, the ACC initiated probe against Abdul Jabbar, a former
MP of Satkhira-2, along with six other ruling party politicians for allegedly accumulating unusual wealth and found that Jabbar accumulated wealth illegally, ACC sources said.
Earlier, the national anti-graft body grilled Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee and Abdul Jabbar in connection with the illegal wealth accumulations.
