Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) observed Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day and paid tribute to the martyrs of the Language Movement on the twentyfirst instant.
To mark the day, a delegation of BUP led by BUP Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain brought out a procession and placed floral wreathsat the Central Shaheed Minar.
This year, the ceremony was held at a limited scale due to global pandemic Covid 19.
On this day, BUP Literature and Drama Club of Department of English organized a discussion meeting at Bijoy Auditorium of BUP.
BUP VC Major General Moshfequr Rahman, SGP, SUP, ndc, psc attended the discussion as the chief guest.
Professor of BUP Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Chair Dr. Syed Anwar Husain, Faculty Members and Students also spoke in the discussion.
The chief guest at the beginning of his speech paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their valuable lives forthe cause of Language Movement. He mentioned that Bengali language marks our existence, tradition, and identity. He specifically mentioned Bangabandhu’s contribution in establishing Bangla language.
