Rajshahi University :

The historic Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day was observed at Rajshahi University (RU) from the first minute of Sunday with paying tribute to the martyrs of the language movement, who laid down their lives for the mother tongue in 1952. The university Shaheed Minar was well decorated for the observance of the day where RU Kendrio Sangskritik Jote staged cultural events from evening to midnight. As the clock struck one minute-past zero hour, the university authority led by RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin and Pro-VC Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan paid homage to language movement martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the altar of Shaheed Minar.
A three-day book fair titled “Amar Ekushey Boi Mela-2016” was also organised on the campus that drawn huge crowd. Nabojagaran Foundation, a voluntary organization established by some vigorous students of the university organised the fair.

Green University

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) observed the ‘Amar Ekushey’, the Language Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day-2016 with full vigor and enthusiasm to accolade the valiant sons of our motherland who sacrificed their lives to defend our mother tongue. In the early morning, a number of faculty members and students rallied and placed floral wreaths at the Dhaka Central Shaheed Minar and newly established GUB Shaheed Minar on 21st February 2016. Subsequently, as a part of an elaborate observance, GUB organized a discussion program followed by a cultural show at the Green Auditorium of the university campus on 21 February, 2016 at 09:00a.m. Prof Dr Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice-Chancellor of GUB presided over the discussion program while renowned language scientists and Journalist Kamal Lohani was present as the chief guest.

Daffodil International University (DIU) observed 21st February the ‘Shahid Dibash’ and ‘International Mother Language Day’ and paid tribute to the martyrs of the language movement. To mark the day, Daffodil International University chalked out elaborate program including seminar on “Inclusive Education through and with language- language matters”, discussion, Photo Exhibition, Cultural program and rally followed by placing floral wreaths to Central Shaheed Minar at permanent campus of the university at Ashulia.

ASA University

Teachers, students and officials of ASA University Bangladesh led by Prof Dr Dalem Ch Barman, Vice Chancellor of ASAUB attended `Provat Feri’ and paid homage to the language martyrs by placing wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar on the occasion of Shaheed Dibas and International Mother Language Day on 21 February 2016.

International Islamic University, Ctg

Vice chancellor of International Islamic University Prof Dr AKM Azharul Islam attended as chief guest in a discussion meeting on International Mother Language Day. Registrar of the University squadron leader (Retd) Mohd. Nurul Islam presided over the meeting. Dr Farid Ahmed Sobhani, Dean of Business Studies attended as special guest. Additional Director of Staff Development and Student Affairs Mohd. Mahfuzur Rahman and Director of Student Affairs Division AZM Obeyedullah attended the discussion.
