A seven-day long ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2018’ started at Rajshahi University (RU) campus on Wednesday. ‘Sopno’, a voluntary organization of the students of RU Psychology Department arranged the fair to be continued till 21 February.
The fair will remain open for visitors 9am to 8pm on every business day, except for holidays.
Fazle Hossain Badsha, MP inaugurated the fair as chief guest with releasing balloons, festoons around 12pm in front of Second Science Building of the campus.
Among others, former Pro-VC Prof Muhammad Nurullah, Chairman of Psychology Dept. Prof Dr Nazma Afroz spoke at the program as special guests while the Convener of the Fair Committee Tanvirul Alam conducted it.
Professor of Psychology of National University Dr Shamsuddin Ilius presented the keynote speech.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Fazle Hasan Badsha said, “Our language martyrs gave their lives for Bengali language-It is our responsibility to hold the tradition of Bengali language; and we believe that only it can be possible through reading Bengali books”.
A total of 16 stalls were set up in the fair. However, the strict security has been taken on the book fair to avert any untoward incident during the fair.
