A Dhaka court has sentenced Bengali-language daily Amar Desh’s acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman to three years in prison for not providing details of his wealth. Special Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar gave the order on Thursday in the five-year-old case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission. He was also fined Tk 100,000, failure to pay which would mean another month in prison, ACC Lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal told bdnews24.com. Rahman was brought into the court during the verdict at the temporary courtroom set up at Bakshibazar. Kajal said the ACC sent a notice to Rahman on Apr 19, 2010, but Rahman did not respond to it. — bdnews24.com
