Bumper increased production of Aman paddy in Barishal Division crossed the earlier estimated target more than eight percent.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and farmers sources confirmed the matter .
Arshed Ali, Additional Director of DAE Barishal Division said that good weather condition without any natural disaster and use of high yielding seeds mainly causing the increase of Aman paddy production since last few years.
DAE sources said this year Aman paddy was cultivated on 7 lakhs 20 thousand and 365 hectors of land in six districts of Barishal division and produced 19 lakhs 81 thousands 375 metric tons of paddy.
Earlier, we estimated that 2.75 mt.ton of paddy would be produced on per hector of land, but it increased to 3 tons per hector.
So this year produced 21 lakhs 61 thousands 95 mt. tons of Aman paddy produced on total cultivated 1 lakh 79 thousands and 720 hectors of land causing increase of production more 8 percent from estimated , the DAE divisional officer added.
Out of six districts, production of Aman paddy was better in Patuakhali and Bhola districts.
In Patuakhali district, 6 lakhs 7 thousands 824 mt.tons Aman paddy produced on 2, 02,608 hector of cultivated land.
In Bhola district, 5 lakhs 29 thousands 485 mt. tons Aman paddy produced on 1, 76,495 hector of cultivated land.
In Jhalakati district, 1 lakhs 48 thousands 500 mt. tons Aman paddy produced on 49,500 hectors of cultivated land.
On other hand 1 lakhs 93 thousands and 923 mt. tons Aman paddy produced on 64,641 hectors of cultivated land in Pirojpur district.
In Barguna district, 3 lakhs 1 thousands 491 mt. tons Aman paddy produced on 1, 00,497 hectors of cultivated land.
Besides in Barishal district, 3 lakhs 79 thousands 872 mt. tons Aman paddy produced on 1, 26, and 624 hectors of cultivated land.
Yunus Talukdar, one of the Aman paddy farmers of Lakutia village under Barishal district, said increase of production amount satisfied us.
But if we could get justified price from marketing that production and accordingly purchasing power would be increased for collecting other essential items needed for livelihood, and then only we could become happy for cultivating paddy, farmer Yunus added.
