UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Monday granted six-month interim bail to BNP joint secretary general Amanullah Aman in 14 more cases filed with different police stations in the capital.
Two separate HC benches passed the order after hearing on separate petitions filed by the lawyers of Amanullah Aman. An HC bench comprising Justice
M Rejaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman granted bail to Aman in seven cases while another bench of Justice AKM Abdul Hakim and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das approved the bail in other seven cases.
Aman lawyer Sagir Hossain said “BNP leader Aman was accused in 69 cases. He earlier secured bail in a total of 54 cases –20 cases from the HC and 20 other cases from the lower court at different times.”
Aman might be released from jail after securing bail in other 15 cases, he said.
The cases were filed against Aman with Mohammadpur, Paltan, Motijheel, Rampura, Mugda and Lalbagh Police Stations in the capital in January and February for obstructing police from discharging their duties, arson attacks on vehicles and vandalism during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s blockade and hartal programme. On August 2, the BNP leader was sent to jail after he surrendered before a lower court seeking bail in the violence cases.
