BSS, Narsingdi :
Cultivation of T- Aman seedling is nearing completion in the six upazilas of Narsingdi district and the target fixed by the agriculture department might be exceeded this season.
Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Narsingdi Latafat Hossain told the district monthly co-ordination committee meeting that according to field level reporting collected by the DAE, a total of 41,380 hectares land have been brought under Aman cultivation against the target of 41,508 hectares.
He said the target fixed by the department might be exceeded as a good number of farmers living on river basins of Sadar and Raipura upazilas would cultivate late variety Aman paddy on their char lands just after receding the water from the char.
Meanwhile, the transplanted seedlings of Aman paddy have already grown well with the paddy fields turning greenish. The growers are now busy nurturing the paddy fields with the hopes of getting a desired production of the crops this season.
The deputy director said Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation distributed high quality Aman seeds to the farmers of the district at a fair price.
He said availability of fertilizers, insecticides and other necessary agri-inputs has been ensured at the farmers level during the current Aman season.

Besides, different state run commercial banks disbursed agricultural loan on easy terms to the poor and marginal farmers.
