Altur Cycle Jatra, a 13-episode drama serial as a part of the Routine EPI Campaign, is being aired after the 8:00pm News on Bangladesh Television (BTV) every Wednesday.
Popular actor Chanchal Chowdhury is playing the title role as Altu in the serial. Written and directed by veteran actor-director Mamunur Rashid, the drama serial has been produced with the support of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and UNICEF for carrying out the message that vaccines can save children’s lives.
The drama is made aiming at raising the human awareness on childhood vaccination through entertainment. The story of the drama evolves around the life struggle of a virtuous man named Altu. He cannot tolerate the miserable condition of any children or old-aged people.
He has a young sister, who suffers from Polio disease. Altu totally dislikes Shamans for the treatment; rather he takes his sister to Upazila Health Complex for vaccination. Besides Altu’s pro-activeness, the drama also portrays the village politics, childhood diseases and well behaviour of the health personnel.
The cast of the drama serial includes Mamunur Rashid, Rumana Malik Munmun, Chanchal Chowdhury, Shahnaz Khushi, Tushar Khan, Shamima Tusty, Ahsanul Hoq Minu, among others.
